From Corporate Marketing to Children's Music

I have always had a soft spot for kids. When we moved to Bend, Oregon, from Silicon Valley in 2000, I partnered and invested in my son's preschool, Discovery Corner. Helping us expand our capacity and curriculum to over 120 students - all with our own theater stage! In 2005, we were named Oregon's woman-owned business of the year by the Small Business Administration (SBA). From there, I worked in corporate marketing positions for companies such as Sun Microsystems and Cisco until retiring in 2025.

Now it feels like the perfect time to re-engage with kids and follow my heart and passion of 20 years earlier.

My Version of
Oh! Suzanna

Embracing this time in my life as a new singer-songwriter for children's music, I've written my own rendition of the famous, "Oh! Susanna" song entitled, "Oh! Yes that Would Be Me."

The lyrics serve as a bio and go like this:

Oh! Suzanna. Oh! Yes that would be me.
I was raised in California where the sun shines falls for free.
Older now, still carefree wheelin', I write songs for my grandkids.

Raelee and I start singin' in two-part harmony
Then I grab sweet Carter to join our melody
While 'ol boy Jackie plays a drum beat on my knee

Oh! Suzanna. Oh! Yes that would be me. I was raised in California
What a grand life it turned out to be

  • We all need to find our place. For me as a child it was playing with words, theater and music early on. In first grade, I wrote and directed my first play for neighborhood kids. And started acting with a local theater group in second grade. Next, I won a writing award in 4th grade. To me, it felt like I had found my place.

My hope in bringing about Bandana Suzanna is that kids everywhere can find their place by enjoying my songs, rhymes, poems and plays. All meant to allow them to explore and interact with their creative sides while building literacy, confidence and acceptance of who they are in this world.

  • If you knew me personally, you would say that I've pursued creative endeavors my whole life. But reflecting on my life, this is the first time, it's purely for placing a smile on the faces of children and adults through my songs for kids.

I'm a proud mother of two and grandmother of three and live in beautiful Bend, Oregon.

  • I've always loved wearing bandanas and wore them often when I was younger. It seems fitting to wear them now as I start a new path. Try to guess how many colors of bandanas I have? Answer: 17.
